Who is the owner of Comment Picker?
Let me introduce myself, my name is Koen Knol. A frontend developer with a passion for building websites & tools. I am interested in social media, SEO and online marketing.
The Story of Comment Picker
The website started in 2015 with just one tool: Random Comment Picker for Facebook. This tool is still available on the homepage of the website with some improvements and adjustments in the design.
I can remember being so happy in beginning with the first visitors using the tool. I needed to build more tools, and so I started with the next tool: YouTube Random Comment Picker.
As a Frontend Developer I learned a lot from building these tools. I learned how to use Facebook API & YouTube API, how to grow your website using SEO & online marketing and how to build & manage websites.
In 2017, one of the most loved tools was build: Instagram Comment Picker The tool was working with the old Instagram API where you could log in with Instagram. Unfortunately, the Instagram API deprecated in 2019 and the tool needed changes to be working. Comment Picker lost some visitors and users to other websites who are scraping Instagram. I needed to do a lot of work to go through a Facebook review and get the correct permissions. Now you have to log in with Facebook which should be connected to Instagram account. Hopefully they will change this in the future to work with Instagram login again. Still happy that it works, and you can pick a winner for your Instagram giveaway or contest.
In 2018, I created a YouTube channel to create videos to explain how to use the tools. The videos are embedded on the platform as well to give you the best information on how to use the tools.
In 2019, as the visitors and users grew consistent, the tools were growing as well. In the beginning only social media tools, but after a while I created Random Name Picker and other Random Generators, which were a great success.
In 2020, I created a blog on Comment Picker to write content about growing your business & social media, information about our tools and how-to articles.
We are proud that we launched Comment Picker Premium in 2022. Premium is a 100% ad-free website with Premium features and limits. Premium also helps us to continue growing our business and keep creating new tools.
Now in 2024, Comment Picker has 85+ FREE tools, 500K monthly unique visitors, 40K Facebook likes, 18K Instagram followers, 2500 YouTube subscribers and 1000 X (Twitter) Followers.
What's next? I will create more social media and other tools, optimize design and improve user experience. We might also translate the website to more languages in the future.
